Young Energy Champions Are Live!

Posted 15th January 2024

The Young Energy Champions are now live across YouTube, TikTok and Spotify! They have come up with several different ways to make you aware of saving energy and how important it is to be aware. The Young Energy Champions has been an 18 month project within NHP. The project has aimed to educate young people & staff in House Projects around energy awareness and for this knowledge to be continually shared with future cohorts and future generations of care experienced young people. The project has been co-produced with four core young energy champions leading on its implementation over these 18 months. Dozens of people have been trained, numerous energy workshops delivered and a substantial amount of energy vouchers distributed.

On TikTok and YouTube, we currently have videos about how to save energy and useful tips with behind the scenes reels! Some of these videos contain information on:

Celebrating Success at the Frontline Awards
Celebrating Success at the Frontline Awards

In May, we were proud to attend the Frontline Awards to celebrate Coventry City Council’s Pathways service winning the Multi-Agency Partnership of the Year award. Funded by the Rayne Foundation, the Pathways programme brings together a number of organisations, including NHP, Coram Voice and The Rees Foundation, working closely alongside the Throughcare Service, Coventry House Project and Lifelong Links. Together, the partnership supports young people leaving care to develop skills, build positive relationships, and focus on their emotional health and wellbeing. Three cohorts of young people from Coventry have now go through the Pathways Programme. Seeing the partnership recognised nationally was a fantastic moment and a powerful reflection of the impact collaborative working can have in supporting care-experienced young people.

Aspirational Awards Update

In May, the Aspirational Awards panel awarded just over £15,000 to 19 young people across our LHPs. It was inspiring to see such a wide range of ideas, goals and determination reflected in the applications, and a privilege to support more young people as they take their next steps forward. Funding in Round 9 supported training + graduate employment scheme, equipment for a baking business and support for other businesses, sports sessions, music lessons, lifeguard course, and day trips. We have also recently completed a 3 year review of our Aspirational Awards and the impact they’ve had. Over the past 3 years, we’ve awarded over £147,000 to 138 young people (not including figures from our most recent round in May). If you would like to find out more about how to support the Aspirational Awards please get in touch.
