Edinburgh Kiltwalk Fundraiser

Edinburgh Kiltwalk Fundraiser

Posted 17th June 2024

After two successful Half Marathon events, our next fundraising venture is Edinburgh Kiltwalk. The event will take place on 15 September 2024 and is an opportunity to enjoy a walk around the beautiful city and coastline of Edinburgh.

All of the walks start in the city centre and take you around the Capital before finishing up at the Kiltwalk Village in Scottish Gas Murrayfield Stadium.

There are 3 distances to choose from so you can challenge yourself as much or as little as you choose:

  • Mighty Stride (approx. 21 miles)
  • Big Stroll (approx. 11 miles) and
  • Wee Wander (approx. 5 miles)

Routes are already on the website, though may be subject to change.

All funds you raise go quickly and directly to NHP plus all eligible gift aid (up to 25%* extra). This means that up to 125%* of all funds you raise go to the charity close to your heart - it really is the best way to fundraise. Make sure you tick gift aid when donating.

The places are free, but we ask that walkers aim to raise at least £35, to cover costs. We are encouraging Local House Projects to walk and fundraise as a group.

All the sponsorship money raised from our walkers will be going towards the essential appliances (fridge/washing machine) for our young people moving into their first home. Providing every young person with the means to wash their clothes and keep food fresh is an absolute essential and we would like to help as many young people as we can.

Entry Includes:

  • Entry into Kiltwalk Sunday 15 September
  • NHP Top
  • Water & snack stops on route
  • A finisher’s medal
  • An end of walk meal
  • Entertainment at the end site in the Kiltwalk Village
  • Walk photos

If you’re interested in taking part, there are plenty of spaces available for you, your colleagues, friends and family to get involved (and plenty of time to get training!)

Walkers must choose the distance they want to walk at the time of booking. Places are non-refundable and non-transferable.

To book your place please email susan@thehouseproject.org with:

  • First name
  • Surname
  • Email address
  • Distance you want to walk

We will then provide you with a booking code and all the joining instructions as well as details of how to raise sponsorship and order your top.

Please circulate among your friends, family & colleagues.

Celebrating Success at the Frontline Awards
Celebrating Success at the Frontline Awards

In May, we were proud to attend the Frontline Awards to celebrate Coventry City Council’s Pathways service winning the Multi-Agency Partnership of the Year award. Funded by the Rayne Foundation, the Pathways programme brings together a number of organisations, including NHP, Coram Voice and The Rees Foundation, working closely alongside the Throughcare Service, Coventry House Project and Lifelong Links. Together, the partnership supports young people leaving care to develop skills, build positive relationships, and focus on their emotional health and wellbeing. Three cohorts of young people from Coventry have now go through the Pathways Programme. Seeing the partnership recognised nationally was a fantastic moment and a powerful reflection of the impact collaborative working can have in supporting care-experienced young people.

Aspirational Awards Update

In May, the Aspirational Awards panel awarded just over £15,000 to 19 young people across our LHPs. It was inspiring to see such a wide range of ideas, goals and determination reflected in the applications, and a privilege to support more young people as they take their next steps forward. Funding in Round 9 supported training + graduate employment scheme, equipment for a baking business and support for other businesses, sports sessions, music lessons, lifeguard course, and day trips. We have also recently completed a 3 year review of our Aspirational Awards and the impact they’ve had. Over the past 3 years, we’ve awarded over £147,000 to 138 young people (not including figures from our most recent round in May). If you would like to find out more about how to support the Aspirational Awards please get in touch.
